Saint-Gobain Isover, start up of the green project “Life”

Saint-Gobain Isover, specialized in production of insulation products, starts at plants in Vidalengo (BG) and Chieti the first Italian project for recycling of polymer- bitumen membranes and glass wool with the support of the European program LIFE +. Two new “green” production lines and new machineries to create a recycling system for the collection, storage, treatment and reuse in the production process of waste from non-compliant stock, obsolescences and production scraps.

Thanks to Life it will be possible to achieve alignment with European regulations about the reduction of contributions in landfill, in favor of increased recycling activities with a positive impact on the environment. The initiative aims to ensure a saving of virgin natural resources and use of public land for the construction of new landfills as well as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption generated by the landfill.

To Saint-Gobain Group, maximizing the recovery of raw materials from scraps is one of the important targets for global growth that limits their irreversible impacts on the environment: Life is an example for younger generation about the importance of raising awareness of diking environmental impact of industry.
